The Oxford Index for software engineering dropped slightly from last quarter, from 110 to 107, but remains above 100, indicating steady demand for software engineering consultants in Q1 2016.
Results of our study for Q1 2016 are based on 144 managers’ responses from across North America.
In relation to demand for other engineering skills, as shown in the graph below, the demand for software engineering consultants came in third, with demand for electrical engineering consultants highest in Q1 2016.
The eight-quarter trend for software engineers remains positive, with all eight quarters measuring above the 100 mark, indicating steady demand for software engineering consultants for the last two years.
