Healthcare IT Consultant Demand Recovers in Q1 2016

The Oxford Index for Healthcare IT increased significantly from last quarter, from 98 to 129, indicating a jump in demand for healthcare IT consultants for Q1 2016.

Oxford Index values above 100 suggest an increase in demand for consultants, and values below 100 suggest a decrease in demand.

Results of our study for Q1 2016 are based on 28 healthcare IT managers’ responses from across North America.

For Q1 2016, our findings indicated:

  • 46 percent of respondents expect an increase in their use of healthcare IT consultants while 18 percent anticipate a decrease.
  • 25 percent anticipate no change in their use of healthcare IT consultants, while the remaining 11 percent are unsure
  • McKesson and Meditech are the two EMR vendors with the highest increase in demand in Q1 2016, both with an index of 150, followed by Epic, with an index of 138
  • Demand for Cerner consultants is anticipated to be flat.
