Find me on:

The Oxford Index is a quarterly survey of projected demand for mechanical engineering consultants conducted by Oxford Global Resources.

Results of our study for Q1 2013 are based on 43 mechanical engineering managers’ responses from across North America.

For Q1 2013:

  • 35 percent of respondents expect an increase in their use of mechanical engineering consultants while 16 percent anticipate a decrease.
  • 28 percent anticipate no change in use of mechanical engineering consultants.
  • The resulting Oxford Index for mechanical engineering consultants increased to 118.6 compared to last quarter’s dip to 94.7, suggesting significant increase in demand for mechanical engineering consultants in Q1.
  • The eight-quarter trend of the Oxford Index for mechanical engineering consultants is mostly positive: seven out of eight of the previous quarters have been above 100, suggesting a net positive demand for mechanical engineering consultants over the last two years.
