Hardware Engineering Consultant Demand Trends for Q1 2012

The Oxford Index is a quarterly survey of projected demand for hardware engineering consultants conducted by Oxford Global Resources.

Results of our study for Q1 2012 are based on 55 hardware engineering managers’ responses from across North America.

For Q1 2012:

• 27% of respondents expect an increase in their use of hardware engineering consultants while only 7% anticipate a decrease. 
• 58% anticipate no change in use of hardware engineering consultants.
• The resulting Oxford Index for hardware engineering consultants dropped to 120.0, but still remains well above 100, suggesting a continued demand for hardware engineering consultants in Q1.
• The eight quarter trend of the Oxford Index for hardware engineering consultants is positive: all of the past eight quarters have been above 100, suggesting net positive demand over the entire time period.

 

The specific types of hardware engineering consultants in greatest demand include ASIC Design and Verification, FPGA Design, and Digital Board Design in Semiconductor, Instrument, and Appliance manufacturing companies.
