The Oxford Index is a quarterly survey of projected demand for freelance IT contractors in Europe conducted by Oxford Global Resources.
Results of our study for Q1 2012 are based on 41 IT managers’ responses from across Europe.
For Q1 2012:
- 27% of respondents expect an increase in their use of freelance IT contractors in Europe while 15% anticipate a decrease.
- 46% anticipate no change in use of freelance IT contractors in Europe.
- The resulting Oxford Index for freelance IT contractors in Europe is down slightly from the previous quarter to 112.2, but remains firmly above 100 suggesting continued strong demand for independent IT contractors across Europe in Q1 2012.
- The eight quarter trend of the Oxford Index for freelance IT contractors in Europe is positive: all of the past eight quarters have been above 100, suggesting net positive demand over the entire time period.

The Oxford Index is a quarterly survey of projected demand for network and telecommunications engineering consultants conducted by Oxford Global Resources.
Results of our study for Q1 2012 are based on 31 network and telecommunications for Q1 2012:
- 39% of respondents expect an increase in their use of network and telecommunications engineering consultants while only 10% anticipate a decrease.
- 42% anticipate no change in use of network and telecommunications engineering consultants.
- The resulting Oxford Index for network and telecommunications engineering consultants spiked to 129.0, suggesting very strong demand for network and telecommunications engineering consultants in Q1.
- The eight quarter trend of the Oxford Index for network and telecommunications engineering consultants is positive: all of the past eight quarters have been above 100, suggesting net positive demand over the entire time period.

The specific types of network and telecommunications engineering consultants in greatest demand include voice engineering, facilities engineering and switch engineering.

Results of our study for Q1 2012 are based on 87 QA, RA, and validation engineering managers’ responses from across North America.
For Q1 2012:
- 21% of respondents expect an increase in their use of quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants while only 10% anticipate a decrease.
- 54% anticipate no change in use of quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants.
- The resulting Oxford Index for quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants spiked to 110.0, suggesting an increased demand for quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants in Q1.
- The Oxford Index for quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants has been above 100 the past three quarters, indicating net positive demand over the that time period.

The medical equipment and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in California, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, and New Jersey have shown the strongest demand for quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation engineering consultants.
